Decorating with Shakespeare

“To be or not to be, that is the question”. This well-known line is from the famous play, “Hamlet”, written by William Shakespeare. I find the quote to be a profound Soliloquy analysis ….you might find yourself in your own soliloquy when it comes to decorating your home.  What decisions should I make?  Where do I begin?  Yes, you could resort to talking to yourself!  Here is one suggestion that may be of some help.

You could start with a design element that you like and “build” around it.  It could be something as simple as a beautiful sculpture. Wait a minute!  A statue in my home?  So, you start to think about it…….Well, statues HAVE been produced in many cultures from prehistory to the present. Why, I’ve grown up around statues. And, when I went to Italy I did see Michelangelo's “David”.  And, what about Rodin’s “The Thinker”.  But, do I want them in my home?  In my living room?

Before you go into cardiac arrest, we’re not talking about putting the statue of Liberty in your home.  What about something like “The Shakespeare” bust.  The Shakespeare, or one of the other busts offered by Magnolia Hall, is a wonderful place to start because it features the romance of days gone by.

These masterpieces are made in one of Atlanta, Georgia’s old historic buildings. This aged structure provides an ideal home for the molding and casting process. Each individual plaster casting is then hand finished in our signature “Fossil” finish. Artisans with years of experience display artistic and technical knowledge, as well as an ability and skill in mold making.  Notice the end product in the “Girl with Bonnet” bust.  Visit our website to see other excellent examples of this age-old art form.
