The early Victorian Period looked back to the ancient world for inspiration. The result in furniture was the Classic Revival or Empire Style. Notice the acanthus leaf carving at the crests and aprons of the sofa, love seat and chair. The S-curved arms add another classic touch. The untufted backs provide a perfect display for the many luxurious tapestries and brocades that are available for this group. The overall effect is one of balance and dignity. For this collection we have selected tables and mirrors that follow the design and make perfect companion pieces. In keeping with the venerable tradition of Victorian furniture manufacture, the frames of the sitting group are built of solid beechwood and feature lavish carving throughout. The upholstery is hand-sewn and completed with a heavy cord trim. The thick, high density foam on the backs and the deep loose cushions on the seats provide optimum support and comfort. This collection is available in 18 premium Italian fabrics. Shown in the mahogany finish, the parlor also comes in dark fruitwood, lacatta, antique gold and white/gold finishes.
